Welcome to fall quarter 2021! We are excited to see our faculty, students and colleagues in person for the first time in months. This quarter we are pleased to announce that Center research will thrive thanks to grants in translation studies, Arctic civic education, and social wellbeing in Inuit Nunangat. Further research and course development will be bolstered by the addition of five new faculty affiliates to the Center. And, as always, the research, studies and study-in-Canada activities carried out by UW students is alway inspiring and assists us in growing our cross-border community. We hope you enjoy this edition of Center news.

ADAC respectfully announces it will host its first Program Year 8 Customer and Partner’s Roundtable via webinar on Thursday, 7 October 2021, with Center updates, Project Reviews and associated Customer and Partner Feedback Discussions from 1:00 - 4:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time (9:00 AM - 12:30 PM Alaska Daylight Time).

Atmosphere-Ocean, the principal scientific journal of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS), is now accepting submissions for a Special Issue dedicated to Polar Predictions.

The special issue is a collection of manuscripts documenting observational and modeling studies on the variability of polar atmosphere and sea ice, interactions with the stratosphere and middle and low latitudes, and the predictability and prediction on time scales from days to decades.

Manuscript submissions are being accepted through July 2022. For submission instruction, please visit http://cmos.ca/site/ao.
